8. "Abandoned, Not Forgotten"

There's a light that falls on shadows that we know
They hover closely while we sit in false repose
Out of sight, I'd be out of my mind to let them go
The broken ones the sunlight ever follows

Why don't you
Think of the things that you hold
Why don't you
Consider them out in the cold
What keeps you
Alive here and standing
While the abandoned are forgotten

Our careless minds confined to worries that won't last
We get a glimpse of hope but never can hold fast
Persistent in our resistance, we turn and won't look back
To see the weak while in their need, too daunting of a task

Father forgive us
Father forgive us

Why don't you
Think of the things that you hold
Why don't you
Consider them out in the cold
What keeps you
Alive here and standing
While the abandoned are forgotten

Behind their milky pupils lie
The remnants of a shattered life
Thirsty souls, mouths are dry

Why don't you
Think of the things that you hold
Why don't you
Consider them out in the cold

Why don't you
Think of the things that you hold
Why don't you
Break free from this
